It is a good book, and a great way to end the series.

OK, on hols i read both Catching Fire and Mockingjay and here's my thoughts: Catching Fire was brilliant. Best in the series. Constant tension, surprises and just really good in general with twists at every turn like Gale getting whipped and Katniss in the hunger games again. It was tense from the get-go this time with Snow in the second chapter whereas the first took some time to get going. Mockingjay wasn't as good (still a great read though). The ending seemed a bit rushed and slightly confusing, i mean, did the last hunger games ever happen? and more than one paragraph on how katniss and peeta became official. also, i think that even though it was a rebellion and a war, there was too much death in squad 451 and because of that, none of their deaths seemed to mean much to katniss. mostly Finnick who just got married and was soon to be a father had helped katniss get through a tough spell but when he gets decapitated in front of her she doesn't even shed a tear? my last critiscm is that i know that gale and peeta had to live but how exactly did they both end up alive? peeta could've died at literally every page in the book and gale nearly died at the end. That seems like i didn't enjoy it with all of that critiscm but as a series it was fantastic, a really good read.

Now to chip in my two cents on things. I read the books about 2-3 years ago, and as a person that doesn't reread much, it was a relief to finally see the moves come out. The first book I loved to death, Catching Fire was where most of my classmates had said it was "Boring". I checked it out at the same time as Harry Potter book 6, I believe it was, and I ended up not wanting to put Catching Fire down. Mockingjay, I didn't find logic to question, I couldn't put that book down either. All in all, I can't wait for Catching Fire the movie, and that'll get me remembering the times I had with the book without rereading it. I own all three books, in case I have to, though.

Oh, I totally agree, digremlin. I wonder how my classmates thought so myself. Like I said, I'm looking forward to the movie.

i know people have opinions but it is fact that catching fire wasn't boring. clearly, your classmates just thought that the whole series would have been blood and murder and that makes for a good book
