I just saw the Smogon tiers today and Garchomp was in OU. Is the world ready for this?
I think so. The metagame has evolved to the point where we can deal with Garchomp. Dragon Pulse is a move tutor move so even more people can learn it, and he still has that x4 ice weakness.
The only thing to be wary of is his base 102 speed which is usually just enough to outspeed a lot of attackers. But you can just counter with a Choice Scarf. But if he's using one too, that means he's trading off strength so he becomes less of an offensive threat.
That's my 35 cents, what do you guys think?

Oh yay my favorite landshark~ Oh well im probably not even gonna be able to use him. I think I might have problems with him though.. He's dangerous. I dont have any counters on my team for him but oh well

Personally, I never though Garchomp was threatening enough to get banned. The only reason why he went Uber was because of Sand Veil -_- Sure he is powerful, and pretty fast, but he isn't over-centralizing OU like Genesect. He works extremely well as a revenge killer though, since he gets perfect neutral coverage with its dual STABs and 102 speed it outspeeds a lot of things with the Choice Scarf.

He overcentralized the metagame at one point, but I'd say we've reached a point where that won't happen.

Back in 4th Gen yes, but in early 5th Gen he wasn't much of a problem. Thundurus and Excadrill were more game breaking.

It could also be due to the Dreamworld abilities. Blaziken went up to Uber because of it's Speed Boost

If anything, I'd imagine banning use of Sand Veil on Garchomp if you're gonna restrict him at all. His Dreamworld ability is much more fair.

I think Sand Veil, along with Snow Cloak, are banned under Evasion Clause.
