I personality feel that MissingNo was not a mistake, and that Gamefreak intended for it to be in Pokemon Red and Blue.

Not really. The one I mean, describes more the numbers and Maths inside the core of the game. I think it was a girl in a Pikachu hoodie, but I could be wrong.

I think MissingNo was just an extra in the game that was something interesting and new. I mean, mew was really a glitch that you got in the original game too so I think maybe they had plans for something else. Either way it's one of the coolest Easter Eggs in my opinion.

In terms of logic(not sure if a coma or a dot was supposed to go here...). It's there so it was intended/made on purpose. Now were you supposed to get him as a pokemon? no.

I was wondering if that was the one you meant, but I didn't post it because I didn't remember her username. Found it though: But yeah, it's only "intended" in the sense that it's supposed to be there in case something goes wrong so the game doesn't just crash by trying to read bad memory, but most likely not in the sense that it was ever supposed to be encountered.

I'm actually sad I wasn't around to answer this. if it's any consolation, Missingno is a placeholder Pokemon, filling in the empty slots in the hex table. I believe initially 190 Pokemon were planned for gen I, but some were decided to save for later (as in gen II). All empty spots in the first 190 hexes are filled with Missingno. Anything after that is garbage data, with 191 - 200 resulting in glitch 'Pokemon', and 201 - 255 mostly consisting of trainers, though their parties mostly consist of glitched or invalid Pokemon if encountered incorrectly. Their parties can be changed through raising or lowering the attack stat of the Pokemon being used for the 'Mew/Ditto' glitch. There are legitimate loadouts for most, as these are the teams the trainers in-game use, but no single trainer uses all 7 possible loadouts, which results in the use of invalid data. R/B hex list
