So there is a lot of talk about if conjunctions are consider bad grammar or not. I am really in the middle, because I find conjunction pretty useful, but at the same time I do not think that they are 100% proper grammar.

I find it to be a part of grammar, it just depends on your definition of "proper grammar" more than anything. I know growing up they had "Conjunction Junction" from school house rock, which was enough for me to figure out it was ok to string different ideas together. At the same time, you could just have a lot of run on sentences, which I know for a lot of people my age is hard to not do. I see a lot of people in my English classes just have these terribly long sentences, which they keep on using "and" way too much. I'll say that it's apart of grammar and can be useful, but only in moderation.

They are good grammar used properly. That is not to say that at times they can't be annoying and can go on for a while but they are good grammar. What steel was talking about with them going on and on is something that has to do with poor writing skills by the person writing the sentence.

From what I understand, a conjunction in the English language is a category of words and/or phrases similar to nouns or verbs in that it has an entirely valid use, and as such, would not be considered grammatically incorrect when used properly. Of course, like most other words, it can certainly be used improperly, or be placed in a grammatically incorrect sentence; this, however, would not make conjunctions as a whole grammatically incorrect. Run-on sentences may be awkward to read, but they often fall within the boundaries of what constitutes for proper grammar in the English language; regardless, if the structure of said run-on sentence is not intentionally made to be as such, a change in the syntax often helps to make the sentence less unpleasant to read.
Don't quote me on this.

Conjunctions are definitely "good grammar." However, the problem comes from the fact that they promote less than eloquent speaking.

As long as conjunctions aren't used to death, it's fine. However it is the main cause of run on sentences.
