Hello everyone, first i want to say i know this isn't a discusion for hack and as such i am not concentrating on the hack but on the technical problems. I have had for a while a hacked nintendo wii where i can play games from an External Hard disk drive or Hard disk drive with USB enclosure, yet until recently i have been having the trouble that the hard disk has been heating up after a few time of play(Perhaps because of summer yet there is more), also the hard disc after a few time of play it disconnects/shuts down itself interrupting any current processes(Transfering files, playing wii games, etc.) and each day it appears to be it occurs faster making me last about 10 minutes of gameplay in wii and 13 minutes while transfering files then it just shuts itself down. Do you have any idea on what the problem could be and how to solve it? The HDD is IDE of 60 GB capacity and i use an external USB enclosure.

I don't think it should be on nintendo gaming since it's a discussion on a Hard Disk Drive(As far as i'm concerned nintendo doesn't make HDD), i think we should have a board for technical support.

It might be overheating or something. There's probably something wrong with the fan. How to fix it, I'm not quite sure. You might need to open it up and look at the fan and see what's what. If that's the issue, you can probably replace the fan. If that's not the problem, then there's probably something wrong with the drive itself.

Yes at first i thought it was overheating problems mainly because external Hard disc drives(USB enclosures) don't have fans but a special case to keep them slightly cool when it's hot, so i tried using an external fan and keep checking how much it heated. And i realized it was kept at a supportable weather yet when it disconnected itself it started to suddenly overheat itself.
