This thread is for suspecting Mega Sceptile with the current information we know about him. Mega Sceptile is now a Grass/Dragon, which make him 4 times weaker to Ice. Lightning Rod does prevent Mega Sceptile from getting attacking by an Electric type move, but his weakness to Electric is so low already so I don't believe it will make much of a difference. However, the raise of Special Attack when hit by an Electric's move could be useful. Also, due to Mega Sceptile being half Dragon I am sure Fairy types will be a problem for him. Of course it is too early to tell if Mega Sceptile will be good in competitive battling, but at the moment I do not believe Mega Sceptile will be a huge threat in competitive battling.

Unless given a better movepool, he is not a threat. Having a Sp.Attack Sceptile sounds strange to me. I always thought Sceptile was attacker instead. That is why I think Sceptile needs a reorganization on its stats.

There are several OU and some Ubers pokemon with a notable X4 weakness and yet that does not prevent them from being there. And the most notable ones are those that suffer the weakness to stealth rocks because of it being a common choice in competitive teams and meaning they take half of their health each turn they switch in while forcing the team to have a rapid spinner if they desire to not suffer this. The two pokemon that make the most strong point from above are Volcarona and Ho-Oh, however they stay in their respective tiers because of the very good stats and move pools they posses, not to mention Volcarona's potential for sweeping and Ho-oh's for tanking with regenerator. Mega sceptile might be more fragile than both considering how normal sceptile is, but it being weak to ice means ice shard will be a huge threat due to it being priority completely ignoring it's speed. It's current move pool is decent for a special attacker(Focus blast, Dragon pulse, Giga drain, etc.) but for being the glass cannon it is, it should have at least a heavier arsenal, which with the weather nerf i don't see solar beam with the same potential it to had. Lightingrod might at first seem like a waste however it does give it immunity to Thunder wave which would be a huge trouble for it's normal form's stats. In conclusion i would like to say that it has good potential for being OU, however unless it gains a more heavy move pool it won't be getting into one of the top threats.
I apologize for punctuation and grammatical errors.

Better movepool? He has a fantastic movepool as it is. He just needs the stats to abuse it with. Even if his Mega Evolution doesn't get a boost to its attack stat (if Mega Gardevoir got an attack boost, I'm willing to bet Sceptile will as well) Base 85 is good enough for an SD set to clean up in the late game.
M-Sceptile is going to be OU worthy imo

It's not like Fairies resist Leaf Blade. And those that do won't appreciate a Rock Side, or and Earthquake.
Like I said earlier, he has all the tools he needs, he just needs the stats to really utilize them. Hopefully his mega evolution will address this problem.

I said without making it physical(no use of physical moves). They can't resist a grass type move but the extremely large sp def most of fairies have allows them to take almost every special type move with ease.

I agree with Zero. I think that Mega-Sceptile will actually be better than Mega-Swampert.

Well, his special movepool ain't that great...he's got a lot of good special grass options but other than that? Focus Miss and HP Fire, and I guess he'll probably get dragon pulse. But unless he gets a poison or steel move I'm definitely seeing him being hard countered by Clefable.
That said, I'm liking the dragon typing for him overall because like I said in a different thread, the new weaknesses don't matter nearly as much as the new resistances. He's already a glass cannon so most ice or dragon moves he wasn't living anyway, whereas now he can better take even relatively powerful water and grass moves. I bet he'll be a much better subseeder too, and he'll probably also be useful in doubles thanks to that ability.

I have a feeling he will get some more moves due to his mega-evolution.
