First of all, if there is a similar thread let me know and remove it. Or feel free to move it if the thread is located wrong.
Basically the question is what is your job if you have one? If you are under age what are you studing for school/college? I know some people wrote their answer in their welcome thread, but you know, a thread to put it all up for every member is not a bad idea. Now accepting rants about your managers, if you want.
I am an IB, first year, engineering student studying in a secundary school (or high/senior school). My dream is to become an engineer, though I still dont know what type of it >_< With classes such as: High Level Chemistry, Physics, Maths, English and Medium level Spanish and Business. Plus others such as: Computing, Art, Laws, CAS and TOK. Sounds like a lot? Basically I can do whatever I want, whenever I want (although that is not my case) however it is a complete MUST to pass Written tasks in the year and the final tests at the end of 2 years (Mine will be in 2015). Hopefully I'll pass with 37 out of 45 and study somewhere else from my current country. Yes I know College/University are much worse than this.

I am going to be a sophomore in high school this upcoming year (What ever grade a 15 year old should be in your country). Although I still have several years to make a decision on what my career exactly will be, I'm pretty sure I want to be in the sports business. Whether it is Sports Journalism, radio, TV, or online. If you want me to elaborate more, please ask me questions.

So what exactly will you do as a sophomore in highschool? What is your favourite sport, or which sport do you hope to follow? Mine is Snowboarding, though I practice Tae-Kwon-Doh and previously played Basketball.

Mine is Snowboarding, though I practice Tae-Kwon-Doh and previously played Basketball. I can't pursue any majors until I am in college, which will be in four years from now. What I will do in sophomore year is learn math, chemistry, history, Spanish, English, etc. In preparation for college I am taking a Journalism course that will hopefully strengthen my skills, in addition reading articles, reasearching, and demonstrating it. My favorite sport is American football, though I also like basketball too. I do in addition to these like other sports as well, I just don't have as much knowledge about like futbol compared to someone who lives in a country where professonal soccer is pevelant. Though I haven't hit the slopes in at least half a decade, I didn't snowboard, I learned to ski. Took a tutorial class of karate, got a white belt with a yellow stripe .

I am hoping to be what we call here ''doctorandus den papiamentu'' Basicly MRbossMCbosten in Papiamentu grammar and allowed to give lessons in universities, i also would like to do something related to laws and Attorney-ish stuff. You could say i'm really interested in laws and papiamentu grammar, also biologie but I don't wish making a career out of that.

I'm actually looking to get into Animation. It's been my childhood dream to make cartoons, even though I suck at drawing lol

Personally I'm an electrician by trade, but I'm looking at going back to school sometime next year (trying to build up funds). In the meantime I'm currently a hardlines sales/maintenance associate at Kmart. I'm hoping that'll change soon. Here's the story I posted in my own work thread, didn't know there already was one.
I got to work early as usual on Wednesday and had sat down to read on my Kindle when the HR manager sat down on the opposite side of the table and asked to talk to me. Anywho she told me the woman who worked damage products processing had been let go and the position was available. Normally I hear about these things after the position has been filled. She then proceeded to tell me she wanted to fill the position from within since it would be relatively easy to convert someone and I was the ideal candidate. After some time thinking about it I realized she's right on that, I have been assisting her since she started and I helped the previous guy as well. So I told her I would take the job. Naturally she said she had to wait for the store manager's approval. Since he wasn't in that day I figured I would have an answer by Monday.
Later on that same day I was discussing it with our receiving manager and she told me that she was asked two weeks earlier who would be the best person on staff to fill the position if it were suddenly to become available. She told me that she had said that I was the ideal candidate for the position. So, there you go. Two managers want me in the position. And yet I still don't have an answer. Today the store manager told me he wants to discuss it on Tuesday which is when he and the HR manager will both be on, but it happens to be my day off. So odds are I gotta waste $2.50 to get the ball rolling. Honestly I don't understand the hesitation. The damages are piling up and I'm the only one who has shown interest in the position...One could say I'm the only stupid enough to take it.
So here are the perks. Weekends off with rare exceptions. Pay increase. Not much, but it's almost lead level. Better hours. Fewer cuts in hours. Different management, pretty much just answering to LP. No more going out for carts or carry outs. No more customer calls. No more dealing with the front desk. No more going upstairs (I have a bad knee). Occasional time acting as receiving manager. About a 1000 tasks that I hate, I wouldn't be able to do. And the negative aspects of the position I either already do or have had to do worse. Even the thought of endless paper work doesn't compare to cleaning bathrooms when your store is less than a quarter mile from a Taco Bell.

I got a job at Halloween City. It's obviously seasonal, but it's a cool job and I need the money. Yay!

I figured I might as well give you guys an update. Things have proceeded much slower than necessary. My store manager dragged his feet on getting the process going due to the Christmas transition. (Yeah, I agree. Too early) Well once he went on vacation the HR manager started up the process. She posted the opening one day and told me to apply as soon as possible. Since I was having internet issues at home I did it in store. Took forever 'cause I kept getting called away. Then she took it down. It was only up for about 20 minutes. Then Tuesday I did the assessment which basically revolved around simulated customer interactions. Kinda pissed me off. The responses they give you are horrible! And the background check was signed off on Wednesday and is under way.
Now normally for this position the background check takes 24 hours, so I should have had official word by now, but I still don't know the result. There are multiple possibilities for the delay. She could have forgotten to put in the information and had to do it on Thursday. I might be low on the list for the background check. (We go through a third party) Corporate might have pushed for a higher background check due to the fact that the previous associate was let go for theft.
Anyway it doesn't concern me much. I don't have a criminal record and they only look at the last school attend and I was at the top of my class. I did do some training with the local police and sheriff's department with my dad and it would be interesting if that showed up, but I doubt it. I think I was only 12 years old at the time and it was just a few demonstrations regarding center of gravity and leverage.
And today I had a run in with the district manager and a secret shopper that both went well and obviously plays in my favor. Hell, the secret shopper wrote a note and handed it to me praising my customer service. Normally we have to wait for their reports to filter down from corporate. A hand written note is unprecedented...At least in my store.

Another update. I actually enjoy the job so far and it's been an easy transition. I've been able to apply what I've learned from other departments; for example I've packed many boxes for layaway (although the fill percentage is obviously higher). The programs in the gun have been easy to learn (rarely used one as hardlines). The office computer is oddly programmed. It seems to want a different key to select after every entry. And I absolutely love ignoring the service desk and my former managers' pages. Although it still feels a little awkward to ignore a manager...
Sadly I have to follow my old schedule for a while, so I still have to work two more Saturdays.

Today was a sad and cruel day. I've been researching every college, talks and programs for me to study in the US and turns out I am a little late for it. So beyond now, to get accepted by a good US college I must brake my ass for the next 18 months, as I'll start preparing for 2 tests. The TOEFL (advance english test) and the SAT (advance maths and others) in order to get a high mark and be accepted by any university.
The important part is, I am 16 years old, still in secundary, half-way through the IB international baccalaureate and dont know if I will be able to achieve my "dreams". I am a hardworking, restless student who likes to learn but takes many hours to understand it and only get a 6 out of 10 or 3 out of 7(example).
What matters now is my addiction to video games. I like playing games such as skyrim, Battlefield 3, pokemon and many others (+-6hrs). But I believe, I will be forced to stop playing and give a definite end to it due to my grades. The question is: should I just let it all go for the SAT and TOEFL to get accepted into a US college? To be honest the fact of just leaving my native country and study in another country for +6 years scares me and I dont think I have the maturity for it (My parents believe I dont have the maturity because I behave like a 10 years old for still playing video games after many years). Anyway "old habits die hard" and it will be a long journey for me. Expect further inactivity of me in the forums. I'll be waiting your reply.

hmm, you've come to a common crossroads for many people your age. To be honest you really have to consider what you going to be willing to do. If you feel like the payoff for going to a U.S college is worth working your butt off and stopping a majority of your gaming experience then you should definitely do it. Unfortunately, it seems to me that you're really in the middle of both options. Nothing hardens you more than an out of country experience, especially one of an extended period of time. You'll be out of reach from your old life and you'll have to adapt to an almost completely new society. However, you've got to keep in mind your goal of being able to study whatever you want and working on getting a job that might bring you success and happiness in life. Nothing is certain, and this is a situation where putting down my personal opinion on the situation would not help. This is a decision you're going to have to make based on your own abilities and feelings. All I will say though is not to feel pressured or rushed, if you screw up somewhere in the process it's not the end of the world. (believe it or not) Go with your gut, if you're mind isn't sure go with what your heart wants. This often takes a while to make a clear decision on but I believe you'll do great no matter what decision you make.
