Smoking & drinking too. Good point. Yeah parents don't understand that. My mothers says "Stop acting like a child and act like teenagers your own age" I don't say anything back only if I want the crap slapped out of me.
Aquablast I think we should make some sort of venting thread so people can talk about things like this, you know? But I have no idea where to put it.

Perhaps here. I find it quite disappointing when parents say the phrases "Kids/teens/People your age ", "Most People" or "Normal people" there isn't such a thing as a "Normal" as we are all supposed to be different in points of view, physical traits, form of being and personal preferences.

The problem is if you asked for Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed or something like that, they probably wouldn't have gotten on you for it. People see pokemon and the DS in general as "kid stuff." They probably have your best interests at heart, but they don't understand that it's not just eight year olds who play the game. I'm in law school and at least four of my friends (also in law school) all play the game. They are all 23+.
Also, video games don't make you retarded any more than TV. Like anything the problem is doing it too much, not just doing it. The worst it can realistically do is mess with your wrists (by holding the DS too much) and eyes (because we forget to blink when playing video games...or looking at a computer screen...and a lot of times when watching TV too).
How old are you? Could you get a few easy jobs like mowing lawns or something and just buy the game yourself?

It's funny you say that, because they actually mentioned somthing like that. They rather buy games for the PS3 than for the 3DS, because they believe the PS3 is for more mature people. When the truth is that parents only see their kids play violent games instead of the mild violence PlayStation games. Like CoD or Dead Space or Assassin Creed 4 or GTA V instead of Angry Birds or Lego interpretation games. They're kind of saying the Wii and DS are screwed. They also said that I should watch more Tv. Dont know what class of Series or movies they were thinking. I also had a Vision test, less than one week ago and told me I play too much videogames, however they also said I can see perfectly. I am 15 years old, and my B-day is in May. I have the money not their approval.

Try explaining to them that video games are made to be enjoyed by anyone. Just a lot of them are marketed toward children, doesn't mean that they're exclusively for children. I mean, trying to explain the EV and IV system alone is enough to prove that Pokemon isn't for kids. Then you can go into the whole games are art thing, and show that your parents really don't have a clue about what they're saying. Most games are designed for adults, but are presented in such a way that younger audiences can enjoy them too.

Does this look like the face of mercy? I don't know about you but if you're parents think nintendo is a kid's franchise and Playstation they are completely wrong. If you wanna make you're parents see nintendo in a different way show them all the dark sides of the "Kid" games and the mature games of nintendo. Examples: Majora's Mask-Nintendo 64: The whole plot revolves around the inevitable death. The moon shall crash into a city who denies it, the gorons are leaving their hope upon a dead soldier, the Zora girl who has lost her child and had her husband/boyfriend murdered by a criminal organization, the deku swamp has been filled with poison and the princess is missing... the list goes on but i don't care much for the sidequest characters. Final Fantasy VI-Super Nintendo: After a long journey filled with death of loved ones, when you feel you are to finally destroy the maniac clown Kefka he becomes the god of magic, killing thousands of lives with his "Light of Judgement". After 3 years the world is destroyed and most of your friends are missing. Resident Evil-N64, GC, Wii: I don't think i need to explain Silent Hill-Wii(?): I don't think i need to explain Metal Gear-GC,Wii(?) I don't think i need to explain Metroid Prime-GC, Wii): If they think Halo is not a kid's game, Metroid prime will change their point of view on nintendo. Soul Calibur-GC,Wii: I don't think i need to explain. Conker's bad fur day-Nintendo 64: Tell them to play this kid's game, it looks like a kid's game but it's got that humor and bloody content of the tv shows "Family guy" and "South Park". The list can go on and on, and some of the titles above are available on other platforms but it is just to show nintendo accepts mature content. Others aren't of mature content but the feeling and idea they give is not something you would normally say "For a kid" ...i must get ready for steel to correct all my punctuation and spelling errors.

TheHunterDag: I know, Pokemon can be a kids game. The whole catch them all desire, beat the elite 4 and spend some time with animal looking creatures. But it can be for mature people too, in the competitive way. To breed a pokemon with the correct nature, ability, Iv's and Ev's, training + all the team managment and what you think it will be the best combo in your 6vs6 battle to win; it truly takes the dedication kids dont have. I tried to explain this to my parents, that pokemon can be competitive by all the mechanics it has, but they always say: "I dont care" or "Stop speaking alien language". (Remember English is not my native language, and their English is worse). WolfPrince: I'd like my parents could see the dark corners of Nintendo and understand its not for kids only. I may play PS3 games that are popular, because of their fame, violence and good graphics. However, Nintendo introduced me to the world of videogames, and in the best way. Something I admire of Nintendo is that almost all the time, their games are so good in the plot or feelings that it doesnt matter the graphics anymore. Example: SSBB; I am currently doing the subspace Emissary in insane difficulty. lets see if a 6 years old will not rage. - Pokemon Red or FireRed: Lavender Town's people. That takes the s*** out of you, especially when under 6.

Good news. A friend of mine came over and accepted to take care all of my pokemon in his pokebank until I purchase Pokemon Y in April.
