So, I decided to get back into competitive battling, and what better way to start than with a UU team. I have battling experience, so this shouldn't be too hard, however, my skills at team building are....rusty. So, why not post one here and see what you guys think? Well, here goes (note, tiers may have changed so sorry if I'm not following current tier rules. I checked Smogon, so everything SHOULD be ok.):
Swampert (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Toxic
A basic lead with Steath Rocks for a good hazard to cripple. STAB Waterfall and STAB earthquake for regular damaging for after SR are set up. Toxic for...well, poison. Duh.
Zoroark (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Illusion
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Night Daze
- Flamethrower
- Focus Blast
- Trick
Definitely my favorite Pokemon on this team. While being a basic special sweeper, the Illusion tricks more people than you would imagine. If I seem to be in favor of the match up, I could go for a STAB Night Daze, which could 2HKO a lot of different types of Pokemon. Focus Blast and Flamethrower are for dealing with Nasty Bronzong if I want to have the Choice specs boost up. However, Trick is put up here to scare out Steel types as well. Then Zoroark is free to do whatever.
Hitmontop (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Rapid Spin
- Fake Out
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
A custom set of mine. Always starting with the Fake Out, it's literally mandatory once Hitmontop goes out. Rapid Spin is for getting rid of the entry hazards while the other 2 moves are for heavy damage.
Explotaro (Typhlosion) (F) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Eruption
- Extrasensory
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]
This is in here mainly to absorb the fire. But otherwise, she's a special sweeper in every sense of the word. STAB Eruption for the damage, and Extrasensory for a special move and extra type diversity. Focus Blast is for the Steel and Dark types like Zoroark and Bronzong. I chose Hidden Power Grass to deal with the water types that may threaten my team, as I don't have a solid water counter.
SH (Flygon) (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Fire Punch
I noticed when making the team that I was lacking in a pure physical powerhouse. Well, Flygon came to mind because of that Dragon typing. Not many UU dragons are out there, so Flygon was a must to put on. STAB Outrage OHKOs and 2HKOS almost everything in the tier besides Skarmory, which I why i carry the Fire Punch. U-Turn is for fast switching and to add a little damage on top of it. Earthquake is to counter the steel types once again, since having too little steel counter would demolish me.
Xatu (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 240 SDef / 16 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- U-turn
- Psychic
Xatu is my 2nd favorite Pokemon on this team, because of DA MAGIC BOUNCE! And Xatu is a bulky troll, Thunder Wave and Roost combos until you're done, then U-Turn out of there. Or, if I'm feeling cocky, staying in and using a STAB psychic. Either way, he does his job of paralysis and hazard prevention and gets out.
So, that's my team. Please leave some feedback, showing pros and cons about this team, I would really appreciate it.
