I notice a lot of people saying that kanto is overrated. In my opinion, it's like saying Pong is overrated. Pong may be old, but we respect it since it was the beginning of video games. Kanto was the begining of Pokemon, and it may not have been as good as the new ones, but the developers where trying their best. And yes, you're hearing this from someone who grew up with an N64 and a gameboy (my parents didn't want to buy a gamecube until later on, and the Wii wasn't out yet). Also please note that I'm not a fan of Charizard. I sorta like him, but I do agree that he is overrated.

I certainly respect the Kanto region...That was the only region I knew about as a young 1st-3rd grader(I accidentally skipped over Gen 3). That region is I'd say the best or second best region in Pokemon.

In most of these discussion there are two types of people Haters gonna hate, fanboys gonna love those who think it was the best, and those who don't think it was, it is all about personal opinions. Under my own perspective gen 1 was pretty good and one of the best, and i don't think charizard is overrated. I do love him(So if you are of those people yes i am one who overrate him). But we will all have our different points of view in this dispute so... in the end the most important opinion is your own as only you know what you like.

Really I can see why a lot of people think that Kanto is overrated, but in general, people like the the originals things because they had the most memories with them. A lot of people right now are in the age group where they remember playing their Red/Blue and FireRed/Leafgreen moments and really enjoyed them. Because of that some of the newer people like gens like 3rd or 4th because they were experiencing the same thing the other people were. Kanto in my opinion was a great start to pokemon, not underrated or overrated, but just in between.

Kanto was the first region of Pokemon, and to be honest a ton of Pokemon in Kanto aren't overrated. There is only some that are overrated: Charizard, Pikachu, Meowth, Magikarp, Eevee, Dragonite, and Mewtwo. For the most part, the rest of the Pokemon in Kanto are just always forgotten about.

Overrated? If anything it's underrated. There's a lot of awesome overlooked people in Kanto. The only overrated guys are Pikachu and Mewtwo.

Also please note that I'm not a fan of Charizard. I sorta like him, but I do agree that he is overrated. Most first time players pick Charmander, although after playing through the first generation a few times then most player pick Bulbsaur or Squirtle because they are so much better in the gameplay compare to Charmander and his evolution. Charmander is really only useful in the fourth, and by that point there is other Fire Pokemon that can easily replace having a Charizard on your team. Anyways, I don't think Kanto is overrated because so many of the Pokemon are just forgotten about. You don't hear anybody talking about Cloyster or Muk anymore? And there is a lot more Pokemon that I didn't add to the list of forgotten Pokemon.

kanto is overrated but i also think that it is the best. a point i'd like to make is that when people saw garbodor or vannilluxe they said "it is an inanimate object, it can't be a pokemon" so let's journey back. Muk is literally a pile of **** so why the garbodor hate? magnemite is a magnet geodude is a rock. inanimate objects from gen 1 have no hate. but gen 5... people automatically say that gen 5 is the worst because of these kind of pokemon but really gen 1 is as guilty. P.S. I LOVE GEN 1

I don't think Kanto is overrated, but I do think some later generations are underrated, especially III.
