Anyone have any luck with this? I'd like to but I'm a bit afraid to do so because I don't want strikes against my channel. Some of the bigger name battlers have ads on their videos (e.g. shofu) but I don't know if its actually them or Nintendo slapping their own ads through copyright claims.
So yeah, has anyone had any luck, particularly with Pokemon Online/Showdown videos? I'd imagine PO/PS would be safer since it's not actually the game though technically it does still have copyrighted graphics. Personally I'd think the fact that the battles have turn-by-turn commentary would make them fair use, but as youtube has continuously implied, they aren't a court of law and they'll deny you fair use protection if it suits them.

Yeah, I monetized most of my videos, but I think nintendo still did stuff with PS/PO battles because Youtube wouldn't let me monetize any of my PS videos after that point.

Wait so, are you still getting the income from the old monetized videos? Or Youtube's now directing that cashflow to nintendo?

Well, all of the big YouTubers are partners with networks across YouTube (i.e Machinima). The networks play their ads on the channels, and get a percentage of the income the ads generate. I know because I'm a partner myself.

Could you give a quick explanation of how to get involved with these networks? I've heard of them before but when I looked into them none had any real information about how they worked/how I set them up/what would be required of me etc.

You basically need a certain amount of views for each month (since views is what really matters when it comes generating income), to eligible for any network. Each one had different criteria, which could vary from anything from 1,000 views to 100,000 views. You can also check socialblade.com to see your monthly stats, and see if you could maybe start applying to some networks. (The one I joned btw is BentPixels)

Alright, cool. But then, what is required of you? Can you PM me your contract? (assuming it's not under NDA or something) Or otherwise describe your requirements once you're partnered with the network? EDIT: Just tried using socialblade.com to check my stats and doesn't even recognize my channel ("soulred12 doesn't exist") Guess I've got some work to do.

Well, to be perfectly honest, I don't remember. I just applied, expecting to get turned down XD But I found where the requirements are. I'm actually partnered with KonsoleKings, which is a part of BentPixels. Here's the link: konsolekingz.tv/partnerships/

Hmm alright. I'm just trying to figure out what a network will demand of me should I actually be accepted, like how many videos per week, if there are any restrictions on the types of games I can and can't play/upload footage from, etc.
