This rain team has so far gotten me to the third round. I am still going strong in the tournament and hope to win it all.
Politoed @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Encore
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
Obviously the first choice on any rain team! The two most common sets for it have to be the defensive and the specs spread. So knowing that I decideed to change it up a little bit! Going scarf means I can outspeed things like latios, breloom, landorus-t and scizor. It catches alot of people off guard and surprisingly does alot of work especially in the rain!
Toxicroak @ Black Sludge
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Ice Punch
One of the most deadly sweepers in the rain. This pokemon is what I decided to base the team off of. Being decently bulky and having access to dry skin is just an extra plus! Setting p 1 SD and then destroying things like lando with ice punch and any psychic type with sucker punch as well as common threats like ferro with drain punch is just amazing! Any rain team needs a setup sweeper like this :]
Ferrothorn (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Protect
- Thunder Wave
A solid wall in the rain. Being extremely bulky and stally it provides amazing coverage with toxicroak. Walling psychics and flyings easily. Ontop of that having access to paralysis and leech seed is a plus as it wears down the opposing Pokemon as well as serious slows it down.
Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Rest
- Will-O-Wisp
- Volt Switch
Oh rotom. Hydro pump and switch initiative make you such a viable Choiced Pokemon. But not today. Today I decided that I needed a solid water Fire Ice and Ground coverage. All of which are successfully walled by Rotom wash. Being extremely bulky in Sp. def means it can tank hits. Plus with the Resto-chesto it can bluff the choiced item by either volt switching or hydro pumping making this pokemon seriously a stally threat and an offensive threat!
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 200 HP / 64 Atk / 246 Def
Lax Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Ice]
This Pokemon is just wow. Combined with Ferrothorn as a dual defensive core just makes it perfect. Ontop of that it works as an excellent offensive pivot that allows me to U-turn out to setup sweeps or maybe even get up my rocks if the situation calls for it! Also, with the 64 EVs in attack I can seriously hit hard with moves like EQ.
Salamence @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Aqua Tail
And finally, the gem of the team. Surprisingly the most valuable member. This pokemon has single handedly saved me match after match. As a late game sweeper Salamance is just unbelievable. And surprisingly enough aqua tail is used more then EQ AND Dragon Claw. Aqua Tail in the does more then dragon claw + in situations when they have a levitator and a steel type aqua tail just works amazingly. Seriously one of the most threatening things in the current metagame.
