Wasn't sure on where to post this, but here goes. bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Company_issue_statement_regarding_cheatingPersonally, I don't really mind people using things like PokeSav or PokeGen to create their Pokemon for competitive battles, so long as they are legal (510 EVs total and whatnot), but this new rule is pretty fucking ridiculous. Players are also able to utilize wireless communication functionality to challenge and trade with other players of the Pokemon series. Should a game containing hacked Pokemon use such communication functions, than it may also negatively affect the other player’s game and cause inconveniences to that player, such as causing the game to cease functioning. Also, what the fuck is up with this?! This basically ruins the main point of Pokemon: to interact and trade with other players. Now I would be less likely to trade with anyone out of fear that they may contain hacked Pokemon, and my save file would end up getting fucked up. This is ridiculous. I guess I'll have to stick with simulators for the majority of Gen VI if I want some competitive battles -_-

If they are going to be doing this then I think that they should have some way of creating your own team in X & Y just for battles, and not in the main game. The biggest concern I have to this is that what about if somebody trade you a Pokemon that you didn't know was hack and then your game stopped working when you didn't even hack the game.

It seems like they really want to crack down on this stuff. I know that I do the VGC events and I know that 75% of the people there use some form of Pokegen or Pokesav. Does this mean they're bumping up the scanners for that kind of stuff? Who knows. Either way I feel the our competitive battling via DS's is going to start to get harder to do. I have to agree with you Zero, I don't like it one bit.

Maybe this whole hacking thing wouldn't even be an issue if essential parts of battling weren't randomized BS like IVs!!!

This will just make things more frustrating AND make them lose sales, as people will have a better reason to use online simulators.

I don't blame them in the slightest for the statement. I don't agree with things such as Pokegen, because you can just create Pokemon without making the effort to breed for individual stats ect. Although if you use something like an Action Replay to unlock old event items, I suppose that is kind of fair, although at your own risk.

I completely disagree with Jake in the highest possible way of disagreement. The difference between events and competitive pokemon is competitive can be gain any way in the game at any moment, while events are to commemorate certain dates or moments as thus giving them rarity and value(Pokemon, item or berry)

The bottom line here is basically competitive battlers don't like this change, while people who play for the story and/or play casually won't be affected.
