The players are given very little control over the IVs in their Pokemon. This wouldn't be too much of a problem, if Hidden Power didn't require EXACT combinations of IVs to get a usable strength and the exact type you need. That being said, I think there should be more ways for players to have control over this in the new game.
Also, the existence of the IV system is (or at least I'm convinced it is,) primary reason why players cheat to obtain their Pokemon (of course there's other reasons too).
Conspiracy theory: Datel, the company that makes Action Replay is secretly owned by GameFreak.
Thoughts? Comments? Concerns?

Well, you can somewhat control the IVs via breeding. Its takes a fucking long time, and A LOT of patience, but it's not impossible. If they could make it a lot EASIER to transfer more than just two or three IV sets from the parents to the offspring, that would be very well appreciated. I mean they've already improved the mechanics of breeding for specific natures, why not IVs as well?

I think they should make an item that says: "Increase a Pokemon's [stat] by one" and it raises the IVs for that stat by one. And also have one that decreases. Obviously, it'll be an expensive item, or maybe a rarer berry.

I do have to say that the IV system does seem incredible hard to figure out, it took me a while to get it to work out for me. The IV item/berry sounds like a good idea, I just wish that they could have more control over players cheating to get them. I don't have any major ideas about how anybody could do this but the point of Pokemon games is to train your Pokemon hard, not cheating in a "perfect" one

It's not necessarily a concept that's hard to figure out, it's that you have little to no control over it, and the little bit of control you do have (breeding) is partially random as well. And as I already said, this wouldn't be a problem if being lower in IVs could be the one thing that makes your Pokemon better or worse than another. Also, Hidden Power is useless, if not impossible without having COMPLETE control over the IVs, and it just so happens to be VERY IMPORTANT.

Hidden Power is pretty annoying. Gamers in general like control over their games, yet at the same time Pokemon has had a pretty random game that lets you feel like you have a lot of control (which you do). It's also the same on the other end, there are a lot of things you can't control. The competitive battling people of Pokemon have had to resort to cheating to get that control. I'm still pretty neutral about it, but I would like to see some changes to IV's and Hidden Power

IV's make such a difference in competitive, and as such players like to have them maxed out and spend several time getting the desired result unless they cheat(pokesav, pokegen, AR,etc.) which was originally looked down by players until they found out the amount of time wasted in breeding and EV training and how frustrating it was. I would say a better idea would be to change hidden power's TM So you could choose the type you want and it shall always be 70 power. Because frankly Hidden power is both annoying and useful move, making it work this way would keep it moderated but more useful.
